I am intrigued by this practise of NYRs? Is this a purely western thing? We have the Tamil New Year, the Poila Boishak etc, but resolutions were never a big part of these New Year celebrations as long as I remember. So you are right- if resolutions are made only in the New Year, you can be sure that it wil be broken soon.
