I am not sure how many people would understand what that means. I mean you can always deduce it from the context and all but will people understand it right away? I would say not always. Over the last few years Bollywood is getting increasingly comfortable with a lot of Punjabi words that show up in songs and dialog. It is the same process that has introduced the audience to Urdu. May that’s a good thing to happen.I really wish to rate the two halves of the film to do justice. On a five point scale I would rate the first half of the movie as a 4 out of 5. The second half would be a 3 out of 5. Mathematically speaking the film would end up as a 3.5 on an absolute scale. But when I compare the simplicity of the plot and the narration it feels like a 4. But for that one song the rest of the songs do not register.Go see the movie.

I think the movie’s a 4 overall, though annu kapoor did a little bit of over-acting. And i also like the song “kho jaane de”. But urs is a great review 🙂
Very well written review, Boss! In fact, I watched the movie this afternoon co icidentally and loved it….A very bold subject being introduced to the Indian audience having tried to create awareness and appreciation thru usage of subtle humor…thanks to Annu Kapoor & Ayushman. And yes, “Paani Da Rang” is already on my playlist “gaan tolaar cheshtaaye”.
Hi, Vicky Donor is a movie well crafted with humour, fun, laughter and romance… loved the chemistry between the lead actors…. Pani da is definitely an awesome song…I even like the “Marjayian track……”And yes, definitely you cant miss the auntyji’s drinking & having a gala time…. 😉
A balanced review. Was glad to see a good actor emerging in Ayushman and a good Hindi film after Paan Singh Tomar and Kahaani. Loved the Bengali and Punjabi duel but then that could be because I am a Bengali. Annu Kapoor, Dolly Ahluwalia, Kamlesh Gill and Yami Gautam… What a cast!
I too saw the movie and really loved every bit of Anu Kapoor. I was infact a bit surprised , with no Bengal mutiny uprising that could have been expected with comments which might have been seen derogatory towards the Bong community, especially when we have had such examples of inflammed audiences followed by Wobbly directors , apologising for thier honest attempts just to ensure that the producers have thier moolah raked up.Honestly, if seen in the company of some of my Punjabi friends..there were some parts , where I could have been embarrased with the Bong in me trying to counter such referances..On the whole a very neat film..somewhere initially though did find a semblance of the subject from ‘I AM”
yami gautam is very beautiful and talented.
